Screenshot Tool
How to capture and send an image to a configured app.
Screenshot Tool #
When you need a configured app to analyze a question, an image, or a block of code, OneMoreBrain can capture either a selected region or your full desktop. Captures are copied to the clipboard and can be written to disk by the app.
Taking a Screenshot (`Ctrl + Shift + S`) #
- Ensure the content you want to capture is visible on your screen.
- Press
Ctrl + Shift + S. - The client hides its main window and displays a still image of your desktop with a crosshair.
- Click and drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture.
- Release the mouse button.
Press Esc or right-click to cancel selection. A zero-width or zero-height selection is ignored.
What Happens Next? #
- A bitmap copy is placed on the Windows clipboard so it can also be pasted manually.
- A JPEG copy is written under the working directory's
Screenshotsfolder with a timestamped filename. The full-screen shortcut also uses this JPEG path as part of its processing. - The JPEG is resized before being sent to the active built-in browser tab.
- If no supported app tab is active, the image is not sent.
The "Freeze" Feature #
The selection view is based on a snapshot taken when the hotkey is pressed. It lets you select a stable frame even when the underlying window is changing. The full-screen shortcut (Ctrl + Shift + X) skips the selection box and sends the whole virtual desktop to the active tab.
Best Practices #
- Make sure the intended app is the active tab before taking the screenshot.
- Keep the selection focused on the necessary information. Smaller images upload and process faster.
- Remember that captures are available locally in the clipboard and may also be written in
Screenshots. Clear the clipboard and remove files separately if they are no longer needed.
