Normal Shutdown

How to close the app through its normal shutdown sequence.

Safe Termination & Clean Exit #

OneMoreBrain operates as a specialized, low-level stealth overlay. Because it intentionally suppresses conventional window chrome (such as standard title bars, minimize/maximize buttons, and taskbar entries), terminating the application requires proper procedure to ensure all operating system hooks and session connections are gracefully dismantled.

The Primary Method: Global Terminate Hotkey #

The recommended, cleanest, and fastest way to shut down OneMoreBrain is using the Terminate Hotkey:

Ctrl + Shift + T

What Happens During Termination? #

When you press Ctrl + Shift + T, OneMoreBrain performs an immediate, synchronized shutdown sequence across all subsystems:

  1. Session Termination:

    • Closes the session.
    • Attempts to sign out when the account service is reachable.
  2. Hook Removal:

    • Removes temporary system-wide keyboard and mouse handling.
    • Returns normal input handling to Windows.
  3. Client Resource Cleanup:

    • Closes the app's built-in browser components and releases client resources.
    • The code does not explicitly reset display affinity before destroying the window.
  4. Process Exit:

    • Stops background monitoring components when they are active.
    • Exits the application.

Why You Should Avoid Forceful Killing via Task Manager #

While ending the process via Windows Task Manager will stop the executable, safe termination via Ctrl + Shift + T is strongly preferred for the following reasons:

warning WARNING

Force-killing via End Task or taskkill /F skips the client's sign-out and browser cleanup requests. Use it only when the client is unresponsive. Local browser data, logs, screenshots, process history, and network activity are not erased by normal termination.

Emergency Exit Checklist #

If you need to remove the client from view or request shutdown:

  1. Quick Hide:
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + W to instantly make the overlay disappear while keeping your session alive.
  2. Complete Exit:
    • Press Ctrl + Shift + T to shut down the client through its normal cleanup path.

Verifying Complete Shutdown #

If you ever want to verify that OneMoreBrain is no longer active on your machine:

  1. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  2. Switch to the Details tab.
  3. Check for any process named OneMoreBrain.exe or vibe_coder_*.exe.
  4. If none are present, the main client process is no longer running. This does not prove that browser processes or local files have been removed.
